Privacy Policy
Last Updated: November 15, 2025
This Privacy Policy describes how AI Analyst (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with your use of the AI Analyst Google Sheets™ add-on (the “Add-on”).
Your privacy is critically important to us. This policy outlines what data the Add-on accesses, how it is used, and how it is protected, in full compliance with Google’s API Services User Data Policy.
1. Information We Access
The Add-on acts as a secure conduit between your Google services and the Google Gemini API. To function, it requires your permission to access the following data on your behalf:
- Google Sheets: The Add-on needs permission to create new sheets, write data to them, and modify them to display reports. It only interacts with the spreadsheet it is currently installed in.
- Google Analytics Data: The Add-on requires read-only access to your Google Analytics™ data to fetch the metrics and dimensions needed to fulfill your requests.
- Google Search Console Data: The Add-on requires read-only access to your Google Search Console™ data to fetch performance metrics for your verified sites.
- External Service Connection: This permission is used exclusively to send your text queries and, in some cases, the retrieved GA4/GSC data to the Google Gemini API for processing and analysis.
2. How We Use Information
Your data is used exclusively to provide the Add-on’s services:
- Your text queries (e.g., “top 10 pages”) are sent to the Google Gemini API to be interpreted.
- The data fetched from Google Analytics™ and Google Search Console™ is used to generate the reports you request. This data is also sent to the Gemini API only when you explicitly request an analysis of that data.
- Your Google Account email is used to associate your account with your saved API key.
3. Google User Data & Add-on Policy
The following sections explicitly detail our compliance with Google’s user data policies.
4. Data Sharing and Disclosure
This section addresses with whom data is shared, transferred, or disclosed.
- We do not share, transfer, disclose, or sell any Google user data with any third parties.
- The sole exception to this rule is the core functionality of the add-on, which requires sending data to the Google Gemini API for processing. Your text queries and the data you request from Google Analytics™ or Google Search Console™ are securely transmitted to the Google Gemini API. This data is not used by Google for any purpose other than to provide the AI response to you.
- We do not share any Google user data with AI models or any other parties, except as required for the add-on’s core function as described above or as required by law.
5. Data Protection and Security
This section addresses the data protection mechanisms in place for sensitive data.
- All data communication between the Add-on, your browser, Google’s services (Google Sheets™, Google Analytics™, Google Search Console™), and the Google Gemini API is secured using industry-standard HTTPS encryption.
- The Add-on does not store your Google user data on any external or third-party servers. All data is processed in real-time and exists only within your Google Sheet or during transit to Google’s own APIs.
- The only piece of information stored is your Gemini API key. This key is stored securely using Google Apps Script’s
PropertiesService, which is a secure storage solution provided by Google and tied directly to your Google account. It is not accessible to us or any other party.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
This section addresses the retention and deletion of Google user data.
- Data Retention: We do not retain any of your Google user data. Data from Google Analytics™ and Google Search Console™ is fetched in real-time, written to your Google Sheet, and is never stored or logged on any external server.
- Data Deletion: The Gemini API key stored in
PropertiesServiceis the only data retained. A user can delete this stored data and revoke all access by doing the following:- Uninstalling the Add-on: This will remove the add-on and its associated scripts.
- Revoking Permissions: Users can manually revoke the add-on’s access to their Google Account at any time by visiting their Google Account permissions page at: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions
Revoking permissions or uninstalling the add-on will immediately prevent the Add-on from accessing any of your Google data.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
